Grace Church Van Vorst, Jersey City, presents a U2Charist on December 1

Grace Church Van Vorst Presents a U2CHARIST as part of World AIDS Day, Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 7:00pm.  Admission is free, and childcare provided.

Grace Church Van Vorst is located at 39 Erie Street, Jersey City NJ 07302; 201-659-2211. 

Grace Church Van Vorst will be hosting a U2charist on Saturday, December 1st as part of World Aids Day. A U2charist is an Episcopal service that incorporates the music of U2, with the intention of raising awareness of the UN Millennium Development Goals of eradicating poverty and HIV/AIDS. Admission is free and the money offered at this service will go to local Jersey City/Hudson County and international organizations that are actively involved in these issues of concern. These organizations will be Hudson Pride Connections of NJ, St. Lucy’s shelter and Doctors without Boarders.

The U2charist will be celebrated by The Reverend Janet Broderick who is famous for her lively, funny, direct and inspiring sermons. Everyone is welcome to receive at the communion table. U2’s music is being performed live by singers and musicians of the GCVV and Downtown Jersey City community.

The Rev. Broderick says “This is an astounding way to connect with people who care about poverty all over the world and to take a stand against a world unwilling to share its resources fairly.”

Grace Church Van a welcoming congregation of the Episcopal Church. The Rector is Rev. Janet Broderick and Deacon Rev. Nick Lannon. Grace Church Van Vorst hosts vital outreach to the Downtown Jersey City community with weekend breakfasts for the hungry, a weekday program for seniors and art events year round including the annual Cathedral Arts Festival.

Hudson Pride Connections, a 501c3 non profit founded in 1993, manages the Pride Connections Center of New Jersey at its location in Jersey City. HPC offers transgender programming, youth groups, legal advocacy, health education, outreach services, financial assistance, social service linkages, a lending library, and more. HPC is proud to open its doors to support and empower LGBT people and all people living with HIV.
