District 10 Minutes for November 13, 2007 Meeting

Here are the minutes of our November 13, 2007 meeting held at Christ Church, Ridgewood.

The meeting opened at 7:30 pm with prayer offered by The Rev. John Donnelly.
Frank Ducoat was introduced as a new representative from St. Clement’s.
The agenda was presented and approved.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the September 17, 2007 meeting. Steven Hall said he should be shown as Present instead of Absent. The minutes with correction were approved.
John Murphy reported that the District 10 Admin. Fund had a balance of $512.48. Since we are beginning a new year, donations to the Admin. Fund are encouraged.
Stuart Smith reported on the Diocesan Council. Bishop Beckwith introduced a new Vision and Core Values for the Diocese:
Vision: Standing with the Living Christ at the Gates of Hope
Core Values;
· Worship
· Spiritual formation
· Justice/nonviolence
· Radical hospitality
Stuart Smith also reported that the Diocesan Council would announce two new health care plans.
Steve Boston reported that the Diocesan Council is working on the budget and that Richard Graham is replacing John Zinn for one year as interim Chief Financial Officer.
Program: ACTS/VIM (A Commitment To Serve/Venture In Mission)
Salim Dallal and Mollie Galletly gave a presentation on the history, mission, programs and procedures of ACTS/VIM. Grant application forms are available on the Diocese website.
Program: Elections
· A motion was made and seconded to nominate John Hartnett (St. Elizabeth’s) and Dagi Murphy (St. Alban’s) as Co-Conveners. No further nominations were made. The motion was approved.
· A motion was made and seconded to nominate John Donnelly (St. Michael’s) as the Clergy delegate to the Diocese Nominating Committee. No further nominations were made. The motion was approved.
· A motion was made and seconded to nominate Alice Palmer (St. Elizabeth’s) as the Lay Delegate to Diocesan Council. No further nominations were made. The motion was approved.
· A motion was made and seconded to nominate Allie Acaster (Christ Church) as the Youth Delegate to Convention. No further nominations were made. The motion was approved.
· A motion was made and seconded to nominate John Murphy (St. Alban’s) as our Secretary/Treasurer. No further nominations were made. The motion was approved.
· A motion was made and seconded for a resolution of thanks to the departing officers. The motion was approved.
Announcements:
Charles Arlin announced that the Convention would have elections for several vacancies.
Lizabeth Smith thanked all for participating in the 16th Annual CDC Dinner and Auction on Nov. 9. Over $28,000 was raised.
Elizabeth Searle announced that Christ Church would host an opportunity to participate in a 3-day conference on “Religion and Violence” that is being given by Trinity Institute/Wall Street on January 21 thru 23. Flyers were distributed.
Marge Christie announced that the Women’s Commission is sponsoring a program “Our Girls at Risk” on 4/19/08 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Prince Singh announced that St. Alban’s and the Women’s Commission would be hosting the showing of the movie “Whale Rider” on Nov. 29, 5:00 pm, followed by a light dinner and discussion.
On Dec. 7, 7:30 pm, St. Alban’s would also be hosting a concert by the ProArteChorale to raise money for outreach programs.

Charles Arlin opened a discussion on future meeting dates. The following schedule was agreed upon:
