District 10 Minutes for September 17, 2007 Meeting

Here are the minutes of our September 17, 2007 meeting held at St. Clement’s Church, Hawthorne.

The Business Meeting was preceded by a Potluck Supper.
The meeting opened at 7:10 pm with prayer offered by The Rev. Stuart Smith
Charles Arlin introduced new lay representatives: Allie Acaster
The agenda was presented and approved.
The approval of the minutes of the April 23, 2007 meeting was moved and seconded. The motion was approved.
John Murphy reported that the District 10 Admin. Fund had a balance of $524.19. He also explained the importance of using the Meeting Sign-In form and keeping the District Roster up-to-date. He also explained how the agenda, minutes and roster were distributed by posting on the Diocese District News page and by mail for those who don’t have access to the Internet. Stuart Smith reported on Diocesan Council. The Health Care Committee is working on Clergy Health Care plan changes. The Roles Clarification Task Force is working to define Trustee roles. There will be a meeting to discuss Trustee roles on Nov. 6, 7:30 pm at Denville. Delegates and clergy are invited
Announcements:
Charles Arlin reminded representatives that nominations for elections at Convention are due on Nov. 30.
Lizabeth Smith announced that the CDC Dinner Auction is scheduled for Oct. 25, 2007. Help is needed to organize tables, sell journal ads and auction ideas. She is hoping for two auction items per parish, greater than $20 per item.
Charles Arlin announced that District 10 elections would be held at our Nov. 13 meeting.
Charles Arlin mentioned several events on the Diocese calendar:
Ø District Confirmation Retreat: April 25 & 26 Ø District Confirmation: May 4 Ø Diocese Ad-Ministration Day: Oct. 13, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at St. Elizabeth’s, Ridgewood
John Murphy announced that the Diocese Technical Committee would be providing help to place a brief web page on the Internet for congregations who don’t have a web page. The details will be presented at the Diocese Ad-Ministration Day. He passed out a website survey form.
Kevin Jones announced that Christ Church would be sponsoring a Halloween Dance on Oct. 27 to raise funds to improve services for the L/B/T population.
Program: Presentation and discussion on urban mission
David Wolf, Prince Singh and John Hartnett gave presentations on the mission opportunities in District 10.
The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm and followed by an Evensong Service in the Sanctuary.
