Another important step to marriage equality

Marriage Equality

I celebrate the two rulings issued today by the Supreme Court. It brings us closer to marriage equality - and full equality, for all God's children.

But there is still a long way to go. More rulings need to be made which ensure that the right to marry is extended to all couples whose relationships are marked by fidelity and commitment.

Today's Supreme Court decisions expose yet again a false choice: that providing freedom to marry to those who have been denied the opportunity poses a risk to the freedoms of those who already have it.

Jesus spent his ministry exposing false choices. We should follow his lead. Marriage equality does not threaten the social fabric. Marriage equality strengthens it.
