Walk across diocese raises $8,575 for Alleluia Fund

Joining Jesus on the Journey

The week of July 25-30, 2016, Bishop Mark Beckwith and members of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark completed an ambitious, modern-day pilgrimage: they walked across the entire diocese from the Delaware River in Belvidere to the Hudson River in Hoboken, a journey of more than 80 miles.

People from our diocese participated as walkers while others joined in for worship or a meal, or offered support as drivers and hosts. Still others participated by sponsoring our Pilgrims on the 80-mile journey. The $8,575 in sponsorship monies raised will go to the Alleluia Fund for Outreach, which supports programs providing practical, hands-on support to those most vulnerable in our diocese and internationally.

Our Alleluia Fund partners are evidence of how God is at work today in our northern New Jersey communities. Our Pilgrims traveled through several of the communities served by our Alleluia Fund partners, such as a satellite center of North Porch Women & Infants' Centers in Hackettstown; the Senior Resource Center in Chester; Success for All After School Program in Morristown; and Toni's Kitchen in Montclair – to name just a few.
