2009 CONVENTION - CANDIDATES FOR ELECTED OFFICES

General requirements for diocesan offices: a candidate must be a confirmed communicant in good standing and be a qualified voter in a congregation in our diocese; and, candidates must have completed or arranged to have completed anti-racism training reported to and approved by the Bishop after consultation with the Mission to Dismantle Racism.
(Diocesan Canon 2(6.))

Communicant in good standing: All communicants of this Church who for the previous year have been faithful in corporate worship, unless for good cause prevented, and have been faithful in working, praying, and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God, are to be considered communicants in good standing.
(National Church Canons, I.17.3)

Candidates were asked to submit a statement limited to 60 words explaining what gifts, skills and experiences they would bring to the position and why they sought the office.


1) ACTS/VIM BOARD (13 members)

*To be elected: Class of 2012:  1 clergy/2 lay members

Multiple nominations; require 3 clergy and 4 lay candidates.

2) CONSTITUTION AND CANONS COMMITTEE (10 members and the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor)

*To be elected: 10 members - (lay or clergy) must be a deputy to the convention at which elected.

Multiple nominations; require 11 candidates; clergy or lay.

 



3) DIOCESAN REVIEW COMMITTEE (7 members: 4 clergy, 3 lay)

*To be elected: Class of 2013:  1 clergy
*To be elected: Class of 2012:  1 lay
*To be elected: Class of 2010:  1 clergy

One nomination necessary for each office.
