The NewArk - Palanca Editon - April 2001

Thanks!

Thank you to all who were supportive of the Speakers Bureau efforts in the last few weeks. We visited four congregations ( St. John's, Hasbrouck Heights; St. Alban's, Oakland; St. Paul's, Montvale; and Atonement, Fair Lawn). Special thanks to our speakers, MaryBeth King, Tom Osucha, Janet Hager and Lou Leffler; to our musicians Carl Haefele, Chuck Hardy, Margaret Giammarino and Kathy Coffey; and to those who were able to join us in the congregations. Several people from those congregations will attend NewArk #27 and several more are very interested, so thank you all!

Closing for NewArk # 27 will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 29th in the Sisters' Chapel at Sacred Heart in Newton. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. All community musicians are asked to bring your instruments to join in the celebration. Music for closing will include at least: They'll Know We are Christians, I Am the Bread of Life, Spirit of the Living God, Service Music ( Glory Be, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord's Prayer) and Weave. It would be helpful for musicians to arrive by 2:30 to allow ample time for tuning.

NewArk # 27 Casa Support

NewArk # 27 is upon us and I believe the team is ready for the weekend. In addition to the prayers (Palanca), food Palanca, and "green" Palanca that is being requested and offered to the weekend, there is another way that you can help NewArk #27. And that is.....

Casa Support

In putting on the weekend at Sacred Heart Center in Newton, the center needs to be "transformed" on Wednesday (April 25) prior to the 3-day weekend and "restored" on Sunday (April 29) before and after the closing service. This is labor of love to help reduce the work the weekend team will do to put on NewArk # 27. It involves: re-arranging tables, moving chairs, moving weekend supplies from storage to where they are needed in the center, etc.

As Casa Support Head, I am asking for a little of your time (approximately 1 hour - 2 hours max) either for setup on Wednesday starting around 6 PM, clean up on Sunday (before 2-3 PM) or after the Closing (6-8 PM) or both. The more volunteers, the quicker it can be done. If you would like to sign up to help or if you have questions, please let me know. Thanks and ULTREYA!
