From the Lay Director:
This is just a quick note to let you all know what your Servant Community and Secretariat have been doing all winter and spring. One of the things we have been doing is thoroughly studying the Cursillo Library. In this study, we have found that Secretariat and Servant Community are intended to be, at their core, Reunion Groups of people who have a primary concern for the Cursillo Community in the
Diocese. As we have tried to live into this calling, several decisions have been made.

The first one, you all know, was to postpone the next 3-Day weekend for at least a year, when, we pray, the fruits of the Spirit that are joy, peace and love, not strife and enmity, will be abundantly present in the community.

The second decision was to pare the Secretariat down to its minimum size so that Servant Community can grow to include all who may be called to piety, study and action in this Reunion Group. As such, the members of Secretariat are now: Jan Paxton, Lay Director, Sandra Cummins, Assistant Lay Director, The Rev. Kevin Coffey, Spiritual Director, The Rev. Ronnie Stout-Kopp, Assistant Spiritual Director, Janet Hager, Treasurer, Glenda deKruif, Secretary, Carol Haefele, Head of Servant Community, and a Spiritual Director for Servant Community. The Rev. Joe Pickard has had to resign his position as Spiritual Director for Servant Community, due to the many new responsibilities he has
accepted in his congregation and the diocese. His resignation was regretfully accepted, with grateful thanks for his many years of service to the community.

The third decision that was made was to study and take action to strengthen the life of the fourth day in the diocese so that there will be a vital community into which new people can be called. To that end the spring weekend this year was a 4th day event and there is another one planned for October 1, 2005. Servant Community is working on contacting the entire community to see if we can find all of the Reunion Groups and help folks who need one to either find or start one. There are 3 Ultreyas on the calendar for the remainder of 2005 and it is hoped that we can, as we locate the reunion groups, schedule future Ultreyas to be reunions of those reunion groups. In order to fund all of this, you have gotten an appeal for donations. Keeping our community healthy will take money!

Thank you for your support. If you feel called to help with any of these projects, please contact one of the members of Servant Community or Secretariat. I look forward to seeing you at the coming Ultreyas and the October event.
Jan Paxton, Lay Director
