A Pastoral Plan for the Cursillo Community in the Diocese of Newark
The goal of Cursillo is to be a means to equip the saints for the work of ministry to build up the Body of Christ.
This Pastoral Plan calls us to focus our work more on Fourth Day results than on weekend experiences.
In the Diocese of Newark, our common goal is that all congregations be vibrant, life giving, faith communities that proclaim the Gospel and make it relevant in their unique environment. To that end, the Cursillo community is being asked to focus it Fourth Day energy and leadership on enabling local congregations to increase their capacity for ministry. The gifts of the Cursillo community may best be focused in three of the six Ministry Capacity Areas identified in the Diocese of Newark:
Christian Identity, Gifts, Strengths and Challenges - What do we bring to this call to ministry?
Church Growth/Evangelism Capacity - How able are we to make disciples?
Capacity for Mutual Ministry - How well do we partner as clergy and laity?
I believe Cursillo weekends, Ultreyas, and other Fourth Day activities offer significan opportunities for the achievement of our common goals as we seek to build up the Body of Christ.
The Office of the Bishop will continue to be in conversation with the Secretariat of the Cursillo community as we work together to improve the capacity for ministry within the Diocese of Newark.
