Welcome everyone; say gathering prayer that includes
(1) Christ as our purpose and (2) Prayer for all members
of Christ's community.
Gracious
God, we thank you for this loving community centered
and led by the Christ in our midst. We treasure your
presence among those gathered here and those who are
with us in Spirit as we strive, in community, to live
a life of grace and continuing transformation and
as we try, with prayer and your help to live and act
according to your will. In Jesus' name, we ask only
to live and work to your glory and for your purposes.
Amen
or
Almighty
God, we thank you for bringing us together in this
community, with Christ in our midst and as our center.
Bless those gathered here and those absent. Clothe
us in the Spirit that we may reach out in love to
deepen our union with you and to bring others who
do not yet know you to the knowledge and love of you.
We ask this in the name of your son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Ask
our newest Cursillistas to stand in the circle to be
welcomed by the Cursillo Community of the Diocese of
Newark. Have friends introduce guests or other new persons;
ask for any new unaccompanied people to please stand
to be welcomed.
Welcome
to ULTREYA! This evening's Ultreya will be the same
as all other Ultreyas, except that we will explain,
briefly, the purpose of each activity that makes up
a "primitive Ultreya", primative meaning simple
and unadorned.
We
offer an instructional Ultreya for two reasons; for
our newest Cursillistas this is an introduction and
explanation of what we do at Ultreya, how and why we
do it; for Cursillistas who have been in the community
for a while, it's a refresher opportunity to help re-aquaint
them with what Ultreya is, how it works and why we do
it.
You
may remember that the word Ultreya is used to mean "Onward,
Upward, and Forward!" It translates loosely into
"perservere". The intent of the Ultreya this
meeting is to "root the results of the 3-day weekend
in the soil of perserverance." The goal is to be
an effective movement, the Cursillo method at work,
not just a weekend high. "The purpose is to foster
the atmosphere of unity which diocesan, parish and Christian
communities must have if they are to be dynamic and
radiate their fervor and zeal."
Ultreyas
together with weekly group reunion provide fellowship,
relationship, support, and encouragement so that we
can be sustained in our growing or renewed relationship
with God and Christ and our apostolic action in the
world, in all our many environments.
Ultreya
is meant to be a community made up of our group reunion
community coming together with other group reunion communities.
Ultreyas are designed as a part of the fourth day in
order for us to encourage one another by our unity in
Christ.
In
this diocese, Ultreya is offered:
(fill
in the current schedule)
Ultreyas
begin promptly at 7:30 PM and last about an hour. Tonight's
Ultreya will be just a little longer because of its
instructional nature.
7:40
PM Introduce the Spiritual Director(s) for the evening.
They will be available during floating group reunion
to discuss with anyone how and why to seek Spiritual
Direction.
We
will be breaking into reunion groups now. Floating group
reunions, the group reunions at Ultreya, are different
from the ones that you develop and are a part of each
week, away from Ultreya. Over a period of time, those
reunion groups develop a depth of relationship and sharing
that is only possible in a caring and continuous community.
Floating groups at Ultreya are an opportunity to share
our apostolic journey, with less depth, in a broader
community of caring. They are called floating because
they are random groupings that change with each Ultreya.
Will
the table leaders to step to the side of the room. The
new Cursillistas from NewArk # __ will join them and
you will share your group reunion with your table. Table
leaders, please take your groups. We will give you some
extra time while we divide up. You will be given a five
minute warning before we end the reunion time, which
will be about 20 minutes.
(while
sending off the tables, have someone count the remaining
people and divide by 4 for count-off) We
will now attempt to count off by __ to form the rest
of the reunion groups. The time allowed will be 20 minutes
and we will give a 5 minute warning. Please return promptly!
8:10
PM Remind folks to reassemble
8:15
PM begin singing to gather. When all have returned,
ask for any announcements, but first introduce the Coordinator
of the next weekend and offer him/her an opportunity
to speak briefly. Also introduce any members of secretariat,
Lay Leader, Diocesan Spiritual Director, or any other
leader and offer a few minutes for remarks.
8:30
PMNext
we will have a witness talk from a member of the community.
The purpose of this talk is to share and encourage one
another in our Christian Life and Witness. The talk
describes how Christ is woking in the speaker's life
and an apostolic action or plan on their part. Please
know that you will never be asked to do a witness talk
on the spur of the moment. The witness speaker was invited
to give this talk and has had time to prepare the talk
and to seek spiritual direction, if desired.
After
a period of silent meditation on what we have just heard,
we will have a response from the Spiritual Director.
The Spiritual Director will relate what we have heard
to the Gospel and our lives. After some meditation on
the Spiritual Director's response, we are all welome
to afirm the speaker's witness or to thank him/her for
sharing.
We
will now stand and sing ____________________(talk song).
8:35
PM Introduce the speaker with this passage from Hebrews:
"Let
us be concerned for one another, to help one another
to show love and to do good. Let us not give up the
habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead
let us encourage one another all the more, since you
see that the day of the Lord is coming near."
Will
you please join me in welcoming our witness speaker
for this evening _______________.
8:45
PM After the witness talk, keep silence for about one
minute and then signal the Spiritual Director to begin
the response. Again, wait a minute and then begin responses
from the rest of the community. When everyone has finished,
8:55
PM Ask everyone to stand and form a circle of prayer
to offer up our petitions, thanksgivings and praise.
Begin the group prayer and then allow others to add
on as they feel moved. When everyone has spoken, close
the prayer,
"We ask all these things in the name of your Son
our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen."
Begin
the Lord's Prayer.
9:15
PM Close with"Go
in Peace to love and serve the Lord. Ultreya! Ultreya!"
Follow
with music and fellowship, if desired. Ask for help
to clean up!
