General Convention 2006
 

The 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, USA, will meet June 13-21, 2006, in Columbus, Ohio.

Meeting once every three years, General Convention is the ultimate legislative body for the Episcopal Church. It is comprised of the House of Deputies and House of Bishops, which meet separately but must concur for any action to become church policy. LEGISLATION SPONSORED BY THE DIOCESE OF NEWARK
  Our diocesan conventions in 2005 and 2006 adopted several resolutions for submission to General Convention. The resolutions have been filed by the General Convention Office and assigned to their appropriate working committees, Social and Urban Affairs, Special Legislative Committee and Prayer Book, Liturgy and Music.

The resolutions addressed a variety of social and economic justice issues that are (by title):

  • Episcopal Network for Economic Justice
  • Church Responsibility in Reparations
  • General Convention Site Choices
  • Importance of the Anglican Communion
  • Right of Workers to Organize
  • Anglican Consultative Council Appropriation
  • Martyrs of Lyon Name Change
