Nominations must be sent to the President of the Standing
Committee, Edgar Kim Byham, either electronically
at kim.byham@nypa.gov or faxed to Mr. Byham at 914-390-8040
no later than 6:00 PM EDT on Wednesday, July 5, 2006.

Accompanying the nomination must be:
1) A statement of willingness to be nominated by
the nominee.
2) The nominee's name, address, evening, daytime
and cell telephone numbers, together with a statement
of
her/his current employment and the diocese of canonical
residence.
3) A list of those sponsoring the nominee. This
list must include at least 5 persons (if ordained,
must
be canonically resident in the Diocese of Newark;
if lay, must be deputies to the 2006 Convention
of the
Diocese of Newark) from at least 5 different
congregations of the diocese (which five congregations
may not
all be in the same district). Nominees
by petition will be expected to submit a photograph,
a brief biographical statement, answers
to "Seven Questions from Our Profile" and
a recording of a sermon given between June 18 and July
11, 2006.
This material must be received by Wednesday, July
19 for inclusion in the Presentation Booklet, The
Voice and the Search/Nominating Committee Website. The Standing
Committee will notify each nominee concerning the specific
requirements of such material and where it should be
sent. If the material is not received by the required
date, the nomination will be deemed to have been withdrawn. Nominees by petition will also be expected to cooperate
in an immediate background search comparable to that
done for the nominating committee's candidates.
Names of nominees by petition will be announced
only when the required material has been submitted
and the
background search completed. The list of clergy and lay deputy sponsors of the
nominees will be supplied no later than July 6 to the
Secretary of Convention who will certify that those
persons are eligible to vote at the electing convention
on September 23.
It is the intention of the Standing Committee and
the Search/Nominating Committee that nominees by petition
will be treated equally with those nominated by the
Search/Nominating Committee. Nominees by petition will
speak at the various walkabouts, and will also be included
in the Presentation Booklet, The Voice and the website.
There will be a statement at the close of each biographical
statement indicating whether the nominee is by committee
or by petition.
