We
hope that any congregation or diocesan organization that does not have or does not maintain a web page will send
a team to learn to build one. Congregations that do not have a computer or do not have an internet connection are
encouraged to do two things:
- Contact someone on the Technology Committee so that
we can begin to work with you on creative ways to get you what you need.
- Find some folks in your congregation that use a computer for work or
pleasure and get a team of them together to attend the workshop.

Web Page Creation Workshop
Congregation
teams will meet with pre-assigned consultants to design and create
their home pages. On request, we will provide access to your own
web-hosting space with a password - as a member of the Diocese
of Newark this option is available to you at no charge - and teach
you how to load your pages to the internet.
**Calling
all consultants: If you have learned how to create and maintain
a web page, now is the time to "give back" and help
someone else. If you are available on April 17, 2004 to help someone
else learn to make a web page, contact Jan
Paxton asap!
What
will we learn? You
will learn what a home page is, how you create one, how to maintain
one, why your congregation wants one, among other things.
What
will we do? Your
team will work for up to three hours with a consultant who will
help you learn whatever you need to learn to create your home
page! The consultant will guide you through the process of design
and creation so that the result is your work and so that you will
have the skills you need to continue to maintain your page. If
you have requested server space for your web site, a consultant
will guide you through the process of loading your pages and activating
your new site.
When you decide that you want to come, here's what you need to do:
- Pre-register! You must fill out the form below and mail
it, e-mail it or fax it to the contact person or you will not have a consultant!
- Your team should bring information about the congregation
- staff, history, organizations, directions, a copy of the "Welcome to our Church" booklet, a piece of
letterhead, a picture of the church, the rector/vicar, images you would like to use, etc., and, of course, bring
your ideas about what you'd like your page to be.
- It is optional, but super if you have the availability,
to bring a laptop computer, disks with files containing the text you wish to use, scanned images of the pictures
you wish to use, etc. The more you have computer- ready, the easier it will be to help you make your page.
Even if you don't understand any of the questions or answers
on this flyer, register and come anyway! That's why you'll have your own consultant! Just bring the copies of the
written information you think you might like to use - and if you have no clue, bring your congregation's directory,
a Sunday bulletin, a copy of your last newsletter, and a photograph of the church.
