Agenda and minutes for this meeting:
- Convention
- Power Point presentations:
Tech Committee: We are scheduled for 15 minutes right after lunch on Saturday. Who will talk? - Jan will send out the outline of the Power Point, when it is finished, for scripting. Steve should lead off, but everyone else is willing to help, participate, whatever.
Scott has arranged to have the two viewers ready. Hopefully he and Ken will be able to set things up. One of the most problematical aspects will be dimming of the lights and arranging settings with the hotel. Will Michael be able to arrange for us to have a table with connections, etc. ? John will deal with Scott and Michael. Dave will also come early - about 10 - Johanna and Ray will also be there to help set up. Jan will arrive around 3:30.
We have as a beginning the goals presentation that did not get used at a council meeting, so Jan will re-work that. Johanna has some pictures of the conference on video that John will get onto the computer for use.
- Ward Herbert is also doing a presentation. They directly follow us.
- Booth - Ken and Scott all day Friday and Saturday, Jan, Friday evening and Saturday, Johanna can spell us a bit. Dave, John, Ray can help set up Friday and with the presentation and perhaps some during the break before dinner.
What do we need to be prepared for at the booth?
- Here we jumped into a discussion of purchasing the license for QuickBooks and decided that we really want to know a little more before we commit to the spending of funds for *the* diocesan program. So we decided to hold a hearing :
- ****Ask for a technology hearing room and ask for pros and cons from folks in the audience who are using the stuff ****John will ask Michael. What about inviting some folks to come to the Eucharist and then come to a sharing session.?
- *Fielding questions - how do I? Check Karen's page for list of local providers and print it out if it is available.
- *Site demos
- *Promote Ecunet?
- *Help for churches to have web/e-mail access. If this is a goal of the committee for this year, we've got to be ready with some answers. Stuff we can provide:
- Hotmail (Johanna will check out starter packets) - can Ken bring the Juno stuff?
- Create a piece of paper that will allow folks to give us the data base info - get the questionaire information - so that we can pursue the goal of getting every congregation on-line
- We decided to have a page to be done during our presentation and collected by the pages - also copies at the booth - and that should get us the most basic info - the rector/vicar ought to know most of the answers, even if he doesn't know technical stuff. Ray will create this.
- *E-mail directory addition/update form
- *E-mail directory - latest edition
- *small printer - Ray will bring his, anyone else?
- *Ken will bring computer with a 20 inch monitor?
- John will bring his computer, Jan's will probably be tied up at least some of the time with the presentation stuff.
- *Ken's flyer on what is the basic your parish office needs was good - can he recreate it?
- March Workshop
- Flier ok, Jan will link the web version asap and print the flyer to mail soon and to have available at convention.
- Firm up plans for that day: Louie, Cindy, Jan, Dave (probably), Ray to help not teach, Johanna, John
- What about Steve, Ken,Scott...?
- Budget - solicit information about experience with financial packages and make a recommendation soon to make a decision about site licenses. Tackle it after convention-
- Think about how to make things stretch as far as possible, maybe explore combining efforts with the Department of Missions? Consider asking congregations with computers for matching funds - we're only talking about $75.00 - so that we can use as much as possible to get as many congregations as possible on board as far and as soon as possible.
- Review of our goals (to be added to each meeting agenda) We reviewed them when we did the planning for the convention presentation, but it would be good to review them at each meeting. So... we will need a hard copy of the goals. Jan will provide it at the next meeting. The goals are available linked to our home page - http://www.dioceseofnewark.org/technology/
