MEETING NOTES
Report on what has been happening at Episcopal House:

Y2K - Steve is waiting to hear from the software folks about patches for the LAN. Michael F. and John Z will take the software through together on the workstations. John Z. has come to the place where he is ready to take a more hands-on approach.
The staff are doing in-house training with expertise that exists. Michael is working on that. Someone will be chosen to be Network Administrator. Things are coming together. Susan Robinson, Bishop Croneberger's new secretary, has a database background and will be an asset.

Webpages

dioceseofnewark.org is live, housed at IDT at the non-profit rate. The next part of that is moving all the files over and making sure all links are correct. Steve will help John with that. Steve sent in the fee for a year. The account includes 6 mailboxes and a dial-up. Michael and John will test the dial-up and assign the mailboxes.

We will need a web-page policy and a resolution for diocesan council. The basic proposal would be (1) John Rollins is appointed to be webmaster, (2) Any content of the site is subject to review and approval by the Diocesan Administrator and/or his/her designee and (3) Security procedures.... Michael and Steve will produce a draft policy for our next meeting to then go to Council.

Larry Falkowski and Dave Jones are scheduled to meet on convention software. Steve will speak with Dave.

The workshops are coming (Beginner August 21 and Advanced Sept. 25) and we will need committments for consultants for August 21. The notice will go out soon...

In hopes of a better budget plan for next year, what do we want to tackle?

  • Go out and look for alternative funding/grants
  • Video Down-link possibilities
  • CUCME technology for conferencing (Exxon has this, Hal knows about it)
  • Staff time at Episocpal House needs to be allocated for web work
  • $$ to go to get congregations connected - we really need to know who has what - Michael says that if we can put together a telphone survey (hopefully to be filled in on the computer) to go congregation by congregation, he can have someone on staff do the calling.

Next meeting June 29 at Christ Church, Pompton , 6PM with dinner.
