  • Report from John on the status of the meeting with the Bishop The Bishop ran out of time before his trip out of the country and he called John. He suggested that our concerns be taken up with Larry. He then suggested Dale, when John pointed out that Larry is the concern, since she will be the assistant administrator while he's gone. She can hear us talk technical language and then report back to him anyway. The meeting is tentatively set for Monday, June 2 in the afternoon. We should, however, meet and talk with them about specifics. They've made a couple of silly errors in t he Voice department, specifically, because of lack of perspective, or whatever.

  • Report from Ken on the new survey Can we send the new survey to the treasurer and wardens by name? Administrators? Joan Lodge probably has the administrators list electronically. If we can get hardcopies of the forms listing the 1997 parish officers from Michael Francoviglia, Christ Church will be able to get it into electronic form. Then we can do it and send Ken's questionaire.

  • Review the Goals Ray sent out and prepare them for the Council report Goals discussion:
(To see the revised version supplied by Ray after the meeting.)
    1. Establish software standards for the Diocese. (Discuss at May meeting)
Word processing - Corel and Office Suites - takes care of spreadsheet anyway. You can't get agreement, anyv`y. There isn't a wide use of spreadsheets. We might as well offer one - the two in the suites plus Lotus
Finances - Steven likes Quickbooks, it is easy and seems to work well for non-profits, Jan will try to find the National Church recommendations. We will want a committee to go over this all carefully and then we will want to involve John Zinn. Dave wants a monthly report and parochial report to come out of it. What about the CMI from Albany T?
      Membership
See about securing distribution licenses for recommended software.
    2. Hold one or two Home Page seminars this summer and/or fall. Done
    3. Establish a Diocesan Technology Committee Web Page with helpful information. Goal Statement, Addresses, Goals,
    4. Creation of at least a minimal Home Page for each congregation in the diocese by year-end 1998. Open a Juno mailbox and then use it for feedback...Ken would maintain it and forward the messages ..
    5. Secure older hardware and have it re-conditioned and provided to congregations in the Diocese. Has potential, if we have the right people to do it, but we're a bit too busy. Forrest might have some clues. We should move this to long term objectives. Dave suggests that we have a swap page on our web site.
    6. Participate in Warden's & Treasurers' Conferences.
    7. Participate in Administrator's Conference.
    8. Prepare and submit a proposal for Diocesan Tele-conferenceing Facility at Diocesan Headquarters. This is long term - needs to be presented to the budget process next fall
    9. Create a Diocesan e-mail list for use in communications.
    10. Establish hardware standards for the Diocese.
    11. Assist other Diocesan committees to do presentations at convention

      Longer Term:
    • Establish a Child / Parent training session about the Internet.
    • Establish a help desk for congregations.
    • Provide leased computer systems for congregations.
    • Create a diocesan information distribution network, probably via the Internet, for communication of reports, bulletins, e-mail, notices, etc., between the diocesan office, the congregations, and other organizations.
    • Work with other Diocesan committees and conferences to create a web page.
    • Help with Audio / Visual presentations at annual Convention. Present some of the web pages we have done for committees and congregations.

Steve will get us on the council agenda for the June Meeting to do a presentation and then ask for vote to adopt. We'd do better to go for Sept./Oct. So we can go back to back.

  • Finalize plans for the Workshop
