MEETING NOTES
John Murphy,
Jackie Ross and Marge Christie took Steve up on his offer of lunch to anyone who wanted to stay form the technology
committee meeting. There were 13 congregations/groups who came to work on web pages - and a good time was had by
all!
Convention 2000 - new site, Teaneck, Glenpointe
off 95, Scott will call and ask them to fax him a layout so that we can plan for the new space. We want the 2 projectors
again and at least one monitor on the dais, so we need to try and borrow a couple- any to loan??
We need to put out on the Newark list the call for convention presentations to come to us and the format/time-line
for dealing with them - perhaps the bishops will want something?
We haven't heard from Dave on Convention software? Steve will follow up.
When Michael does his visit and arrangements, will he arrange for the screens and for the table set-up for the
tech committee like last year?
We want a table in the displays. Scott and Ken will work it. The directory is good. When Steve fills out the request,
he'll include the phone line.
Web site policy
- Ken agreed to work with Johanna to develop a general policy manual for 31 Mulberry and it will include web policy.
That can then be presented, along with John as web master, to Council for their deliberation and ratification.
Johanna asked
about licenses for software. Larry said they all exist, but the filing of documents is not what it might be. The
conclusion was that she should make sure that all new stuff is properly licensed and the documents filed. Do the
best with the old files, but assume that all is in order, but misplaced.
Update on Technology Plan for the Diocese -
Jackie Ross volunteered to assist Johanna with in-house software training.
The company providing tech support has lost their Novelle person, so that contract may need to be re-worked when
it expires. John Zinn will be consulted.
Our web-host does not support FrontPage2000 webbots because it is unix, not NT.
John Rollins and Steve Boston are planning
to be at the Parish Administrators Meeting on September 14
Planning for Budget for 2001
Ask at the Parish Administrators what software they use/want provided.
Ken will devise a telephone questionnaire so that Michael can make good on his offer to get it done by staff. Then
we can think about how best to work on getting all congregations connected
Satellite down-link site investigation needs to continue. Steve will get the prices. John will find out what we
are paying to do the Zaccheus Project down-link from Rutgers.
More committee members - perhaps another article
in the Voice? Scott will write one. Johanna has some pictures from today. |
