Meeting: Wednesday, November 15, Christ Church, Pompton Attending: Michael, Steve, Ken, John, Jan
Convention: At St. Paul's Paterson, Saturday only, January 20, 2001 The Powerpoint and projection screens will be helpful. The space has been opened out and there will be room for screens on either side of the podium in front of the gate. We would need to rent screens and set up on tables or rent av carts. We'd have to go in and set up on Friday, January 19 so that we'd be ready for an 8:30 AM Eucharist and meeting running right in. There is a liason committee between the arrangements committee and St. Paul's and one member is Bob Smith, their Parish Administrator. Their electrical has all been re-done, so we should be ok for power. We'll have to be there at 7:30 AM to put the projectors in place. We will only be doing resolutions, maybe constitutions and canons, and maybe one or two of the reports. Michael will have resolutions ahead for preparation. On the following meeting, nothing. They do not need us at all. The Tech Committee will be invited to send representation and will get a packet and then we will need to figure out who should go. We will need a meeting before Dec. 1 so that we can get the questionaire all filled out and everything. Budget: John provided the budgets from the last 2 years and so Steve will be able to make up a new one. We will need to increase the server $$. We never spent the hardware $$ from this year's budget. We need to buy the more bulbs before convention. For next year do we want to work on a video feed to the projectors at convention so that the speaker at the podium is on the screen like real conventions? We'd need a mixer to feed video into our system. Steve will look into the technology needed. If we had the mixer we could rent or borrow a camera to try it. Michael will see about renting everything, including a camera, from Gene Hacker in Hackensack. The training piece - there are still folks looking for help on basic html. Steve is going to check out the Dreamweaver stuff that's available. There must be some published materials. Also needed - basic computer training. Ken has had some experience with self-paced training on cd and video. He said that folks really like it and it has been effective. Steve will look at video/diskette exercises and cds for this training. Folks also don't know how to use their e-mail. Maybe we can work on a workshop on using electronic communication. Let's put in $$ for making electronic communication for the diocese. $2500. Commendation to John Rollins for all the beautiful work he has done on Minority Vendors and on Visioning 2001. The web pages are exceptionally nice and up promptly. http://www.dioceseofnewark.org/mv/ and http://www.ourdiocese.org/visioning2001/ |
