Agenda:
- Web Stats: Russ projected stat summaries. The weekend web-site outage will be resolved in January when the server has memory added. We have 46 sub-domains on the cpg server under the Diocese of Newark. This will enable the high traffic organizations to do things like put their posters on the web rather than e-mailing these huge files. The stats are available on the admin log in. Russ found them by accident. The hig-hit sites relate to Spong, but Clergy and Churches are also high. Russ thinks you can see the stats at the subdomain level. We need to publicize this information so that the word that gets out.
- Web Redesign:
discussion forums on the web
If the Newark list allows anyone to post anything as it does already, we are going to bombard everyone
inboxes with a lot of email and/or file attachments. Traffic on the listserv will no doubt double (which is a good and
bad thing). With file attachments, not everyone's ISP may accept the email for fear of virus attacks. With the increase
in traffic, anyone with an email account with limited space may reject emails too. The more emails freely sent out by
members - some members may remove themselves from the listserv. Or A section on the home page highlighting
congregation events by district may be more appropriate or someone to moderate the listserv. Something to discuss
at the next technology meeting.
Separate subscriber list for the versions of The Voice.
It would be good if we could consolidate all of the listserv sign-ups. It would be possible to so this if we knew what all of the lists were.
For discussion forums,
Rob mentioned a scripted discussion or Nina mentioned blogspot. She will look into it.
Russ pointed out that each district has been doing their own thing. Susan's note mentioned that the districts could have a congregation events posting to put up all their stuff. Each district already has the web pages and Article Manager set up. Maybe we ought to do something at convention to discuss what is available. Perhaps a flyer and in the ads on the screen. Jan said that she would create the flyer. Also get a spot on the next district convener's meeting. Russ is going to set up the subdomains for all of the districts so that they can have clean e-mail list. Convention hand out: Article Manager, district pages and e-mail lists, Technology support page...
- Budget:Russ put in for the same $$ we had last year. He will verify with John.
- Convention:
Dear Jan and John:
As you know, Michael Francavilla gave me your names as contact persons for the "Tech" aspect of the Convention.
I'm not sure yet how far we will be taking this, but need to know the following in order to plan:1. For the showing
during lunch at the convention, how soon would you need the "Video" and in what format? It is presently on DVD.2.
Would you format the DVD for a continuous loop or do we do that?3. Depending on your answer to #2 above, if we
were to proceed with an exhibit at the Convention, we would need a TV and either a VCR or DVD
player to show the Care on the Corner DVD. Would the TV, VCR and/or DVD player be provided by the hotel or do
we need to bring them with us?
Thanks for your help.

We need to know whether or not the HIlton is Wireless.
I will check with Michael to see whether or not he wants to have this running at lunch or whether Care on the Corner should confine themselves to an exhibit. Rob says he can bring a spare hotpoint. Russ has an arrangements committee meeting and will check about the need for cables, etc.
- From Michael:
The convention space will require four (4) screens and video projectors this year, because of the odd size of the
room. As before, the resolutions, some reports and other text will be projected. There will be some level of
assistance from the Technology Committee needed. As of right now, there are few resolutions. We'll be electing
General Convention deputies and alternates. I don't
think that will have any negative technical impact on us. A determination of the location of an altar and a dias will be
made in about a week. Several planning members are visiting the hotel on
Tuesday morning. We might do a small altar in the center of the room. Were any parts of the liturgy on power point?
I don't remember.
- Web Workshop
communicating through - email 1/2 day workshop - this came out of a summer conversation about how people don't know how to send things to lists or to the Voice. Best practices workshop. - instead of a workshop, construct a best practices web page on the technology site. Johanna will start this project.
- From Susan:
Convention: Altar and dais will be against the horizontal wall facing the ballroom entrance - the room is a
rectangle. Could we try to run the hymns in powerpoint? I'll create the files. Run Alison's video from last
year at the opening, then see if she can do one for the closing? I'll be doing powerpoint for the pre-
convention meetings, so let me know what you want included from Tech.Comm.
We can do the hymns in powerpoint, of course. We can run Alison's cd if someone has it - Johanna thinks she has it.
- Voice subscription list:
Johanna and I have discussed and she can fill you in. Congregational ministries: couldn't we use the district
pages for this - spend our energy getting the districts to really use their pages? Remember, it is unlikely we will have a staff person who can spend much time on this. Web updates: I have a volunteer coming in
December who will go through our web site again and make a list of everything that still needs work - that
list will go to the staff with a copy to Russ and John. Hopefully, by the time Johanna and I leave at the end
of February, we'll have the gaps filled.
The volunteer working on the site will find a bunch of stuff under Management and Congregational life, information for Wardens and treasurers... and someone will need to work on that.
Johanna said that she and Susan are thinking about an e-mail subscription list. John says that the invitation to go download it is better and we can look at the hits on the stats, which would give her the same information. Subscription doesn't make any sense. We like the way she's doing it now. The printed Voice list is updated in August and you can add a new person any time by contacting the Voice, it is just that the list is only published once a year. Parish administrators know how to add folks. Dennis wants there to be an e-mail form on line to add people to the printed Voice list. John will create a form to go to Johanna at a generic e-mail that won't die when she leaves.
- How will that organizational changes impact us? Johanna doesn't know what is going to happen.
- Louie asked whether or not this committee has ever considered doing anything with the archives. Dennis said that he is an amateur geneologist. He says that the Church of the Latter Day Saints will come in and microfilm, etc. baptismal records and stuff. No one has best settled on what is the best format to put things in. Dennis saic the only archival material is microfilm only. There is a shelf life on dvd and cd.
