Web Workshop:
About 5 or 6 congregations registered and consultants. We need copies of Dreamweaver for MAC. Regisrations are coming in.

Web Page Redesign:
John said that we've got a start. Susan is going to go through the menu to make sure everything is covered and the words for the cruciform. Russ pointed out that the window floated the words and shifted according to the size, so John will put them on an image. After this last read-through we'll be ready to go. Susan wanted the cruciform words for the outsider. Susan commends the Diocese of Michigan site for reveiw. No one on the staff other than Paul has seen the previews. The decision was to make sure that everything is in place before the rest of the staff sees it.

There was a discussion of making a spreadsheet of all of the pages and where they are. It may make it possible to eliminate some pages without losing the content. After we've got the green light from on high we can use a template and a bunch of us will be able to help port the stuff in. The left column menu will all be the same on all pages. Our next meeting would be the kick-off.

Webmasters
Russ says that there are 2 types of web masters. We need to make some things available to help them out. We could build a web site for the webmasters to provide resources. This would include the district webmasters. Tips, stuff we've learned....expand what is already there and make it more visible and user friendly. Russ will do it. John says it is useful and ought to branch off the java menu off communications.

We may want one or 2 e-mail lists for webmasters to communicate with them, additionally so that folks will need to check the web. One list should be sufficient. It should go under communications.

Subdomain Management
No one but Steve knows how to do it. It needs to be centralized and someone needs to keep a list of all of the passwords. Jan recommended that we keep the file of passwords, etc on-line so that it won't get lost in someone's computer crash.

Agreed: e-mail and e-mail list management comes out of Episcopal House; subdomain managment is Russ (as he takes it on from Steve).

Contribute is available. We need a little seminar. It will be then possible for us to train staff to update pages without ftp. 2-3 hours workshop. After Easter.

Access
Nina is looking at what Michael sent out about Access. Russ has used applications based on Access. Michael also gave a copy to Gerry Hazel, who worked at a University. Michael and Johanna have read through it and they will not be meeting with the person for a week or so. Russ wants to talk with the Parish Soft first, because he says we may not need both. They may have another solution that is ready off the shelf today and not have to do the development. Meanwhile, Russ will look at the Access proposal.

Convention
There is a planning meeting at the end of March. We're moving to a new hotel. John mentioned the request for 4 projectors next year. (Parsippany Hilton)

Diocesan E-mail
Someone called megapath and blacklisted our e-mail, so cpg had to call megapath and have the blacklist removed. Johanna thought about having cpg just handle the e-mail. Some isp's may think that cpg is a spam sender and may be blocked. One criteria is volume of traffic. They're testing not using megapath. Rick Peete said he thought Microsoft Exchange might be more trouble than it is worth.

Listservs
There is another discussion list - Louie's list. Things on newark@epicom seem to be quieted down. Down the road, there are ways to handle this, but it would have some cost. We could set up a domain and then contract with databack to manage any lists you wanted to have for that. It is about $600/yr per list. We could have a newarkcom.org and have whatever we want.

Michigan's Group Forums
John checked them out. They've created a subdomain and they've got chatrooms. "Powered by phpbb" Lynne was talking about having something like this. It is running on their server - edomi Susan will put that in her pipe.

Web Trends
Susan is working with Dennis.
