On this international day of giving, Giving Tuesday, I invite you to join me in supporting the Alleluia Fund for Outreach.

Thirty-three programs have applied for 2016 Alleluia Fund grants with funding requests totaling $327,540. The Alleluia Fund grant board met with each of these applicants last month and heard stories of transformation and gratitude - from children attending an after-school program serving low-income families, from a Nigerian immigrant family just released from detention, and from a recently homeless woman with a new apartment for her and her child. Your Giving Tuesday gift to the Alleluia Fund will have a direct and immediate impact on the life of an adult or child in need.

Since its inception in 2010, the Fund has granted $888,000 in support of our mission and outreach partners, here at home and internationally. Key areas of support include food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, education for youth and adults, and international outreach. Whether it's providing emergency shelter for a LGBT teen in northern New Jersey or sending a disadvantaged orphan to nursing school in Malawi, the Alleluia Fund makes a real difference in the lives of our sisters and brothers.

There are numerous ways to donate - please visit e-giving.dioceseofnewark.org to donate electronically or send a check payable to "Diocese of Newark" with "Alleluia Fund" in the memo line to Diocese of Newark, 31 Mulberry Street, Newark, NJ 07102.

In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, please prayerfully consider a gift to the Alleluia Fund.

Peace,

The Rt. Rev. Mark M. Beckwith
Bishop of Newark
