Extinct Mission Resolution: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, North Arlington, New Jersey

WHEREAS, the church corporately known as the Rector, Wardens and Vestrymen of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located at 11 York Road, in the Borough of North Arlington, County of Bergen, State of New Jersey was previously a Mission of Trinity Church, Newark and a Parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Newark incorporated as a Parish on March 19,1957; and

WHEREAS, on June 11,1997, this parish was thereafter reclassified as an aided parish church and later as a mission church, as defined in the Constitution and Canons of The Episcopal Church, the Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark and the Statutes of the State of New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, the Bishop and the Trustees of the Diocese duly resolved to dissolve said mission; and

WHEREAS, the Diocese of Newark, acting through its officers and agents took further steps to close said mission and to cease all functions as a mission; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the mission church known as St. Paul’s Episcaopl Church is hereby declared by this Convention to be extinct as a mission; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that this the 145th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark hereby celebrates, acknowledges and gives thanks for the 104-year history and legacy of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in North Arlington, New Jersey; and be it further

RESOLVED, that the dissolution and extinction of the said mission church known as St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in North Arlington, New Jersey is hereby approved, ratified and confirmed by this the 145th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that all assets held in the name of The Rector, Wardens and Vestrymen of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in North Arlington, New Jersey shall, and in accordance with Title 16, Chapter 12, Article 1, Section 16 of Revised Statutes of New Jersey, as amended, revert to and be held by the corporation of the Diocese known and designated as the Trustees of the Episcopal Fund and Diocesan Properties of the Diocese of Newark.
